Does AFF require any top dressing or additional supplements?
NO! At 2 pounds per day, your horse is guaranteed to receive more than adequate vitamins, minerals, probiotics etc. If you do choose to add to our veterinary formulated recipes, do so with caution. 2 pounds? Really? How is that possible?
The answer is 2 fold. Extrusion expands the molecules making them up to 300% MORE digestible than a raw or textured grain. Then we jam pack our formulas with the proper vitamins, minerals and supplements to make the very best possible feed on the market today.
I noticed that feeds on the market require such high feed rates, why?
That's absolutely true, most raw or textured grains on the market require HIGH feed rates of 5-10 and sometimes 15 pounds per day along with their forage. Raw and textured grains don't digest in the foregut and must travel to the hindgut for further digestion. This is where the fermentation begins. Imagine how your gut would feel cooking all that grain and extra water weight every single day? This is also why these feeds are HIGH STARCH, because they have such HIGH feed rates. They may claim they are a "low starch feed' when in reality their high feed rates reflect a high starch content. Remember, if you aren't feeding according to the manufactures recommendation, your horse in NOT ingesting the DAILY NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS. AFF's 2 POUNDS PER DAY guarantees a lower than average starch rate AND meets the Nutritional Requirements.
Do you include Molasses?
No. Our premium American grown ingredients have no use for added sugars or flavor enhancers. Horses LOVE the crunch and natural healthy flavors without the need to mask it.
